Talofa Radio

Miss Heatley has taken over Talofa Radio this year with some fantastic Year 6 presenters. Look at these incredibly brave Tuis who read their writing out loud on radio to the whole school. Suraiyah, Jarvis, Alexis-Sia and Catie you are amazing.

Welcome to Emily and whanau

On Monday we had Emily's whakatau. Mum, Dad and little brother Patrick came too. Her buddy Troy was there supporting on stage. Welcome Emily it's so great to have you here.

Discovery Day in action

We love Discovery Days, this weeks theme was Easter and Olivia, Maggie, Joe, Isabel and Reuben's Gran came into teach us how to make harekeke crosses. If there is anyone else who would like to come in one Friday to share an activity with us we would LOVE it.
The marshmelloe bunnies/ dogs/ mice/ elephants were a great hit. They did take quite a lot of concentration to make but very quick to eat.

Easter Play

On Wednesday we had our whole school Easter play. It was so lovely to see the church full with our school community joining us. Tui and Ruru joined together to demonstrate the first two Stations of the Cross. We were all wonderful in performing our different parts and is a very reflective and meaningful way to remember Jesus and the Easter message.

St Patrick's Day

Tui Class and the rest of the school got into the spirit of St Patrick's Day. We all wore green mufti to raise funds for the people who have lost their homes in Fiji. we had green jelly and ice cream as well but we ate it so fast Ms Wasson couldn't get a photo. The school raised over $250 which is awesome.

A Friendly Visit from our Public Health Nurse Helen

On Tuesday Helen came to Tui to teach us some valuable ways to look after our health. We talked and practiced blowing our noses and washing our hands. Hopefully we remember to take these tricks home with us to use too.

Building Friendships Across the School

It's important to get to know the rest of the people here at Sacred Heart Petone. In the Junior Team we mix up groups across the 4 classes on a Monday afternoon for PE. WE also have fortnightly Art sessions on a Friday afternoon. Sometimes our big Pukeko buddies like Joseph drop in to lend a hand.

World Day of Prayer

To be part of The World Day of Prayer we joined our School Community in a reflective walk past the Remembrance Garden and the Values Walk. We then had a lovely prayer lead by Miss Heatley. We were so very quiet and respectful and admired our new Year of Mercy Banner.

Tui Class lead School Prayer

Each Monday a different class leads the School Prayer. Tui class stood proudly at the front and with the help of a couple of our Pukeko buddies took School Prayer. Our focus was Being Merciful.
