Road Safety with Constable Blue

Slightly late for Road Safety Week but our friendly policeman Constable Blue visited us on Wednesday to talk to us about Road Safety. We then put our jackets on and practiced crossing the road safely and keeping a look out for sneaky driveways.

Sacred Heart Petone Cross Country

Our postponement day was a fine sunny and even slightly warm one. With great excitement we walked over to the Petone Rec for a morning of running fun. It was a great morning and we all ran our best.

Catholic Schools Day

The wind blew but the rain held off as all Year 1 & 2's headed over to San Antonio for a day of fun with the other children from the other schools in our Parish. We had a lovely liturgy, collected sticks and shells from the beach and created some lovely crafts.
The best part must have been mingling and playing with some old and new friends from the different schools.

Learning Sports skills by having fun and games.

This year Sacred Heart Petone is involved in a new PE programme. We are developing our thinking moving and skills throughout weekly sessions of fun games. Here we are in the hall working on our agility and stability.

Our Buddy Liturgy

Last Wednesday Tui, Ruru and Pukeko had their buddy liturgy. Our theme was 'Our Mothers' and it was a very special moving liturgy. It was awesome to have so many of our whanau join us and celebrate our wonderful Mothers.

Our Awesome Mothers

In Tui class we spent some time writing about our wonderful Mothers. We then entered them in the Duffy Caught Being Good Competition. Guess what Eva's mum Nat was the lucky mum who had her name pulled out of the hat. Miss Heatley was so impressed with all of our writing she gave each of us a special pencil. Our writing is up on the wall in Tui class so next time you are in come and have a read.

Tui learn some 'Financial Literacy'

Wow the term has started with a bang and it's great to see everyone back and settling into school.

On Wednesday we had a hilarious hour with 'Dr Cash'. He was a representative from a programme sponsored by ASB bank to teach children about finances.Well with a training and a background in creative dance and drama he was fantastic at keeping all the Tuis and Rurus entertained while learning about our NZ money and also the difference between 'a want and a need'.
